Grab your space helmet: Angry Birds Space launches on Thursday. But the furious fowl won’t be making their debut alone. “We wanted to give our fans a unique retail extension to Angry Birds Space that rewards them for their eagle eyes,” said Rovio Entertainment’s chief marketing officer and “Mighty Eagle,” Peter Vesterbacka. “Only Walmart can deliver the reach across America for this type of programme and we wish our fans luck as they seek out our hidden clues.”

Wal-Mart is also putting together an Angry Birds Facebook page that should be active by March 22. Fans who “like” the page will gain access to one of four “Golden Eggsteroid” clues that can unlock secret in-game levels.

That’s one small step for retail and mobile game cross-pollination, and one giant fling for birdkind. Stay tuned to Gamezebo for lots more Angry Birds Space coverage.
