As the same time rumors swirl that Zynga is leaving Facebook, some heavy hitters in the video games space have announced their intention to bring their biggest brands to social gaming this year.

  • Ubisoft continues to release Facebook games, including Horse Gaga last week.

Why is this happening? Video game companies want to jump into the lucrative micro-transactions model and fear that they are losing their customers to social game companies. Or, maybe they are so behind they have not heard about the Facebook Credits 30% Tax.

Perhaps a reason why Facebook seems willing to let its current roster of game partnerswalk over negotiations is that it believes it has a lot of powerful games and brands waiting in the wings waiting to take over the position left by companies like Zynga if they choose to leave.
