The top few games on Facebook have historically all been Zynga games, but now a new competitor has arrived: The Sims Social.
As reported by Inside Social Games, The Sims Social has reached the top five when it comes to monthly active users on Facebook. Its 24.6 MAU puts it behind only CityVille, Empires & Allies, Texas HoldEm Poker, and FarmVille.
Even more impressive is that in terms of daily active users, The Sims Social now sits at number three with more than 7.5 million people playing each day. That puts the game within striking distance of FarmVille, which ranks at number two with 8.3 DAU. The only other non-Zynga games in the top 10 are Gardens of Time and Bejeweled Blitz.
Since The Sims Social only launched last month its meteoric rise is very impressive, especially considering that the game has regularly suffered from technical issues.
Of course, more competition is soon on the way as Zynga recently announced its next release, Adventure World, which should be hitting Facebook soon.
