When I say anomaly games, the first game that comes to your mind is probably The Exit 8, the hit 2023 indie adventure. Inspired by that, we have a new title that tasks you with spotting the anomalies. This one’s called The Queen’s Gondola.

While this title doesn’t have lopping hallways like The Exit 8, it surely makes sure that you distrust everything in a room. In The Queen’s Gondola, the setting is a regal airship floating through a dark elven fantasy world filled with Eldritch horror, Victorian elegance, and Art Nouveau.

You secretly board the Queen’s royal aircraft. But you’re trapped in a mystical loop powered by dark magic and supernatural forces. Now, you’re stuck aboard the airship. Actually, you’re trapped unless you spot the anomalies.

As the game loops, changes begin appearing throughout the environment. Some are subtle. Others are much more disturbing. If everything looks normal, you keep moving forward. If something feels off, you turn around and loop again.

Every successful loop reveals more story, gradually building lore through diary pages and environmental storytelling. That part genuinely appeals to me. Mysterious notes, strange paintings, newspapers scattered across tables, and weird little visual clues.

Also, you can expect sweeping organic shapes, decorative flourishes, intricate frames, elegant furniture, vintage-style interfaces, and lavish 19th-century-inspired décor. The airship is cosy and warmly lit, while feeling claustrophobic and unsettling at the same time.

So, will you board The Queen’s Gondola?

The game comes from Morning Crescent and is now available as a free-to-play title on Steam for PC. Apparently, it was built by a team of only four developers in under three months during a layoff period. Isn’t that an amazing feat?
