A vast proportion of the human population on planet earth will be tuning in to the World Cup this weekend. But there’s another sporting contest that promises to be just as thrilling.
Smilegate Megaport, publisher of the popular mobile RPG Epic Seven, has just announced that the Global Creator Season 2 is kicking off on Saturday December 10th at 03:00 UTC.
Set to last the entire weekend, the event will involve 32 creators and eight teams taking each other on for a place in the semifinals.
Those eight teams were revealed last Saturday during a live drawing ceremony streamed on the official Epic Seven YouTube channel. The draw for Season 2 is even more diverse than the Season 1 draw, featuring teams from Japan, Taiwan, and elsewhere.
If you caught the last season you’ll recognise Gomeowme, Canna, and elvemage, all of whom are returning team leaders. They’re joined in the field by Hwi, who was a quarterfinalist at 2022 E7WC.
Oh, and former broadcaster Fartpancakes is back as a player.
The matches taking place as part of the Global Creator Invitational Season 2 will all be live streamed on both the Epic Seven YouTube channel and the game’s official Twitch channel. It’ll go out in four languages, too: English, Korean, Japanese, and Traditional Chinese.
Plus, Smilegate Megaport will broadcast a host of other events over the weekend, including Twitch Drops and match predictions.
“We hope many of our players show interest in the Global Creator Invitational Season 2,” says Jae-Hoon Jung, department head of Smilegate Megaport.
“We think our players will enjoy the matches even more as creators from diverse cultural backgrounds participate in this competition.”
Epic Seven, for those of you who don’t know, is a highly acclaimed RPG featuring slick cut-scenes, stunning skill animations, an epic storyline, and an eSports-worthy PvP Arena mode.
