Edwardian Thriller, The Case of the Serialized Killer, Takes You On a Point-and-Click Journey
The Case of the Serialized Killer is a stylish visual novel thriller that features point-and-click mechanics. Can you solve the case?

I’m an absolute sucker for a mystery thriller, and I’m also quite partial to an interactive visual novel. You could call me sort of a history buff too, so that’s why The Case of the Serialized Killer caught my attention as I was browsing Itchi.o.
If you’d like to download the game and check it out for yourself, you can do so by visiting The Case of the Serialized Killer’s official Itchi.io page!
A Murder Mystery Occurs…
Travel back to the Edwardian period to help solve a puzzling case that dabbles with the supernatural world. An illustrator has been murdered, but whodunnit? So, the first step is to make contact with the illustrator’s ghost – normal behavior.
It’s your job to crack the case by taking note of all evidence that you find via the point-and-click game mechanics. There’s also a little bit of romance thrown in, cause why not? In fact, there’s a handy journal that contains notes regarding all characters (suspicious or not) and important pieces of information that you need to remember! I’m forgetful, so I very much appreciate this addition.
And just look at that art style! With a watercolour wash and smooth outlines, it feels like you’re reading through an actual storybook at times.
Multiple Endings for Replayability
It wouldn’t be a visual novel without a range of endings to reach. In The Case of the Serialized Killer, there’s actually only one ‘good’ ending which is deemed the ‘true ending’, with the rest being the bad ones. Plus, with around 3 hours of playtime for one playthrough, there’s plenty of replayability if you want to get the most out of the game.
Let’s talk a little more about the main character. Harold Ludicael has a reputation… and not a good one. He’s supposed to be a demonologist, but he lacks the ability to speak to ghosts (and summon them). He takes on the task of solving the illustrator’s murder to try and get back into the good books of the people, but will he succeed?
With a wide range of characters to meet, all with their own charismatic personalities, Harold finds himself becoming much more involved than he originally thought.
