The Blue Bomber is going social with the upcoming “Mega Man Xover” for iOS

Mega Man fans far and wide have lamented the Blue Bomber’s disappearance in recent years, an issue that the cancelation of Mega Man Legends 3 blew into massive proportions all too recently. But with the upcoming “Mega Man Xover” (pronounced crossover, as the game features locations from various Mega Man games), a social RPG headed to iOS, it looks like Capcom is ready to try and make amends.

The game begins with Dr. Wily locking away the heroes of the Mega Man series. In response, Dr. Light and Dr. Cossack construct a robot to take out Wily and rescue the others. Players will be at the helm of said robot, and the game will feature various “Battle Memory” bits that enable them to customize it to their liking.

Call me crazy, but I think I can see how they’re going to monetize this game.

This entire situation begs a rather obvious question: Where exactly do the social elements fit in? Truth be told, no one is sure. My guess is some type of co-op play or a mechanic that gives you Battle Memory pieces for promoting the game on social networks.

Luckily, we won’t have to be guessing for long: The game will be released this Fall.
