Tharsis, the Turn-Based Sci-Fi Roguelike by the Makers of Bit.Trip Runner, Launches June 27 on iPad

Faster Than Light will have fresh competition on Thursday, when Choice Provisions, developer of Bit.Trip Runner, launches Tharsis, its own take on the turn-based sci-fi roguelike.

Tharsis takes place in the distant future, when humanity is capable of exploring the furthest reaches of space. At that point, we’re seeking extraterrestrial life across the universe, but it seems that it’s been under our nose the whole time.

After discovering a mysterious signal emanating from Mars, you’ll lead a mission to uncover extraterrestrial life on the planet. Unfortunately, it doesn’t all go to plan and a micro-meteoroid storm damages the ship.

That’s where you come in. As captain of the ship, you’ll have to guide your crew to survive, averting various different disasters, food shortages, and keeping everyone sane. Oh, and that signal on Mars might need looking into as well.

Tharsis originally launched on PS4 and Steam, and is now making the transition to iPad so you can play it no matter where you are. It’s the very same game, just with a tweaked UI and control scheme that better suits the touch screen.
