It’s no surprise that Temple Run became a massive hit on the App Store. After all, it’s one of the best games to come out for the iPhone in recent memory. Since it was released, though, word of mouth and glowing reviews have helped the game rise to the top spot on the App Store charts.

So far, the game’s received over 20 million downloads, with approximately 7 million daily users. At the moment, the game is receiving 500,000 downloads a day. Even though only one percent of these players are paying real money for the in-game currency needed to unlock character power-ups, this is more than enough to create a huge windfall for Imangi Studios.

For the developer, the viral hit has been an incredible boon. Natalia Luckyanova, one half of the husband-and-wife team that founded the studio, spoke to TechCrunch about how much the game’s success will help Imangi produce new content: “[This is] a very hit driven business, and a hit like this really funds your studio for years. We’re trying to keep it going by updating the game on a regular basis with new power-ups and characters to keep people engaged.”

Luckyanova also noted that while Temple Run is coming to Android devices, the port will be handled by another developer that Imangi is parterning with.

Congratulations, Imangi. All of us here at Gamezebo hope your good fortune (and great line of games) continues!
