A new survey of game developers shows that many are already using HTML5 to develop games, while others see the technology as a part of their future.

Conducted by Evans Data, the survey questioned 1200 developers worldwide at the end of last year, and found that 43 percent of those in North America were already using HTML5, as were 39 percent of developers in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa and 58 percent in Asia-Pacific.

According to Evans Data, if you factor in those developers who plan on utilizing HTML5 in the future, the global adoption rate tops 75 percent.

“There isn’t any question about the adoption of HTML5, it’s already the de facto standard” Evans Data CEO Janel Garvin said. “There is especially strength in HTML5 for mobile and cross-platform mobile apps, which is the direction the industry is moving for client devices, and that has made it extremely attractive to developers everywhere in the world.

“We see the most strength in Asia, a region that is generally quick to adopt new technologies.”
