Super Tank Blitz is due to invade in July, with pre-registrations open now. The game is already available in soft-launch in a handful of territories, including New Zealand and Canada.
The sequel to 2017’s hugely popular Super Tank Rumble, which has been downloaded over 20 million times, Super Tank Blitz once again sees you going head to head with other players in custom-built tanks across a variety of locations.
These tanks can take an infinite variety of forms, and the game is a test of military engineering prowess as much as combat skill.
While the core gameplay remains more or less the same in this eagerly anticipated sequel, developer Lumidia Games has made some crucial embellishments and improvements.
The most significant of these is the new character collection feature, which allows you to collect and upgrade various Commanders, unlocking new parts as you level-them up.
These Commanders inject a welcome dose of extra personality. Take Tesla, a maniacally driven scientist who enters the fray to demonstrate the power of his electric tank, and launches deadly electrifying drones.
Or Billy, a rootin’ tootin’ gunslinger who has achieved total dominion over the world of man, and so has graduated himself to the world of tanks. Or there’s Tommy, the ghost of a taxi driver whose special power is to immobilise his opponents’ tanks.
There are several more of these Commanders, and each one comes with a unique tank and their own special attack.
In addition to Commanders, Super Tank Blitz makes several crucial improvements to the series, from a major UI renovation to a welcome simplification of parts organization.
