Spiral Knights gets more challenging with Shadow Lair update

If you’ve been wishing that Sega’s action RPG Spiral Knights was a whole lot harder, well, you’re in luck. The online game’s latest update brings a new area full of some of the toughest boss monsters yet.

Dubbed Shadow Lair, the new area is accessible to players who manage to find rare “shadow keys” located in iron lockboxes. If you manage to collect a key and bring it to the Clockworks area you’ll be able to take an elevator ride even further into the depths of the world. Here you’ll find what are being described as the most challenging bosses yet in the game, including Lord Vanaduke and the Snarbolax. This is only for the more experienced players who have managed to equip some of the more powerful weapons and armor.

Of course, with greater challenges comes greater reward, and so the Shadow Lair is full of all-new high level gear, including the arcane salamander suit pictured above.
