Kick Is a Soccer Side-Scroller and Slice-Of-Life Adventure Coming to Steam

Kick is an upcoming cosy soccer side-scroller by Swiss indie solo developer nospacelost. According to him, the title is about the small, overlooked moments of childhood. Inspired by games like OlliOlli, you dribble a soccer ball and explore the fuller world around you.

The game is set to launch on Steam in November 2026. The release window was revealed during last week’s Convergence Showcase. Apart from being a soccer side-scroller, Kick is also a slice-of-life adventure, where you follow The Kid’s journey.

Playing as The Kid, you leave home in the morning and try to make it to school before the dreaded school bell rings. You don’t walk in a straight line, though. You dribble and kick a soccer ball the whole way in this 2D side-scroller.

It’s an adventure where you practice your skills in the park, sprint to catch the train, and hunt for shortcuts that shave precious seconds off your trip. You eventually meet up with your friend at school, who’s been kicking her own ball around, too.

Kick takes place across scenic Japanese-inspired locations

Every area comes with its own obstacles and challenges. You’ll be running through bustling streets, scenic beaches, shaded underpasses, sprawling parks, and other familiar places. And all while dodging pedestrians, avoiding hazards, and mastering the art of soccer ball physics.

You’ll kick, jump, and run through 23 levels. Some stages are timed if you want a tougher challenge, but you can also disable the timers completely. There are coins to collect that unlock skins for your soccer ball and flags that you can display in-game. You also get extra ball-skill challenges to complete along the way.
