Buying games on Shockwave just got cheaper today. The company has announced a permanent price drop on most of the 700+ casual downloadable games in its catalogue to $6.99.

According to Shockwave (a unit of the Nickelodeon Kids and Family Games Group), the new price applies to individual game purchases and doesn’t require any further commitments from the player, in contrast to some other online portal subscription services that require users to commit to purchasing a certain number of games or pay a recurring monthly fee.

Shockwave will also continue to run its premium Shockwave Unlimited subscription service, which allows users unlimited access to the full catalog of downloadable games for a low monthly fee of $5.

"Shockwave has been the value leader in the casual game industry ever since we introduced our innovative Shockwave Unlimited subscription service several years ago," said Dave Williams, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Nickelodeon Kids and Family Games Group. "This new price point now sets the standard for value on individual game purchases.  Shockwave users can choose unlimited access to every game on the site for a low monthly fee or buy individual games for their permanent game collections at low prices, with absolutely no commitment to future purchases."

Shockwave has been a destination for online casual games since 1998.
