SEGA iPhone sale slashes prices on Sonic and more!

If you’re a fan of what the house of Sonic has to offer on the iPhone, you’ll no doubt want to swoop in and check out their latest sale on the App Store. With the exception of their latest release Phantasy Star II, almost the entire SEGA catalogue of iPhone games is on sale.

Their higher end $5.99 products have been slashed by 50%, while most of their cheaper $2.99 products have seen a 66% reduction in price – some games are as low as 99 cents!

Ecco the Dolphin: $2.99 –> $0.99
Golden Axe: $2.99 –> $0.99
Shining Force: $2.99 –> $0.99 (Review)
Sonic the Hedgehog: $5.99 –> $2.99
Sonic the Hedgehog 2: $5.99 –> $2.99
Streets of Rage: $2.99 –> $0.99
Super Monkey Ball: $2.99 –> $1.99
Super Monkey Ball 2: $5.99 –> $2.99
Super Monkey Ball 2: Sakura Edition (iPad): $7.99 –> $3.99

Asides from Phantasy Star II, the only other games not included in the sale were already 99 cents to begin with. If you’re still in a shopping mood after all that, don’t forget you can always pick up Space Harrier 2 and SEGA Columns Deluxe for under a buck!

Now if only they’d hurry up and release Sonic the Hedgehog 4…

Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing Review

The name Sonic the Hedgehog is synonymous with gaming. Back in the 1990s, it was Sega's answer to Nintendo's Mario. He was everything Mario wasn't: fast, cool and hip. Of course within a decade, Sega stopped making gaming consoles and started making Sonic games for Nintendo's systems. Despite this, Sega still tries to put him in the same league as Mario. With its almost shameless Mario Kart ripoff of Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing, Sega does a really commendable job. But just like the rest of Sonic's games, it's just not as good as Mario's.

And with such a massive back catalogue of hits, it's only a matter of time until some of their past accomplishments see new life breathed into them with an iPhone adaptation.
