The mysteries of the universe are a source of endless fascination, and exploring beyond the final frontier – where no one has gone before – is what makes space fiction so compelling.

At first, only books could delve into these mysteries. Then TV and film followed, before interstellar sci-fi finally found its perfect medium in video games. There’s simply no better, more immersive way to send your imagination into the cosmos than with a good game.

And here comes one now. Yesterday, developer ZLONGAME announced that its much anticipated space trading game Second Galaxy would come online in 12 days, on September 10th.

There’s a gigantic flotilla of space warships waiting for you up there. All you need is a mobile device.

Second Galaxy takes place within a huge, complex universe with a rich backstory. After three thousand years of stellar exploration, a colony has grown up in the region of the original Second Galaxy.

This constellation is dominated by five superpowers, who are vying to expand their power and influence through diplomatic and military means. All this makes for a complex political backdrop against which to create your own adventure.

Let’s take a break to check out the trailer:

The Second Galaxy universe contains both opportunities and hazards. As you can see from the trailer, the game’s two biggest superpowers – the Oracle Empire and the Republic of Svarus – are locked in a vicious battle, frigates, destroyers, cruisers, and even Titan-class battleships converging for an epic interstellar throwdown.

Second Galaxy boasts 4,961 distinct solar systems to explore, and countless missions to complete. Each of these will furnish you with resources and combat experience, allowing you to build ever more powerful ships, and pilot them in battle.

You’ll also find wormholes containing mystery resources, earn cash by smuggling goods, and play the superpowers off against each other in high stakes gambits.

Sci-fi space trading games have come a long way since Elite, expanding along with the technology to become ever more ambitious. Second Galaxy builds on previous titles while applying its own strain of evolution to the genre.
