Who remembers the viral sensation, Friday Night Funkin’? I know I do, ’cause I put plenty of hours into it and couldn’t stop listening to the OST. Scratchin’ Melodii is a rhythm game that takes me back to those first few hours of Friday Night Funkin’ and ParaRappa the Rapper.

If you’d like to learn more about Scratchin’ Melodii, you can visit the game’s official website (it’s very pink – which I like) or the Itchi.io page. As of right now, there isn’t a set release date, so you’ll just have to enjoy the demo for a while longer!

A Very Pink Melody

FNF was already being compared to ParaRappa back in the day, but Scratchin’ Melodii takes the beloved elements from those games and gives it a new lick of paint. Vibrant, colourful, and downright kawaii, this new entry in the rhythm game genre is sure to pack a punch. During the different stages, you’ll find yourself in various locations, whilst meeting a large roster of characters.

As Scratchin’ Melodii is only available as a demo right now, there are only 6 songs in total to play through at the moment – but they give you a great idea of what to expect for the game’s full release!

Remix It!

Each track features Vocaloid vocals as well as some fantastic instrumental beats. There’s also an overarching story, which is always a neat addition within a rhythm game, giving you a valuable sense of progression.

You’ll go up against worthy opponents as you both take turns to hit the correct buttons on the respective Rhythm Tracks. Remixing the songs is encouraged with the Expression meter, which rises as you stray away from the suggested button order. I quite like this feature, as it lets you be a little more adventurous with the music.
