Roman Sands RE:Build Is an Apocalyptic Resort Sim, Where Two Narratives Mutate into Each Other

Publisher Serenity Forge, which has published Fractured Blooms, To The Moon, and Doki Doki Literature Club Plus!, has teamed up with developer Arbitrary Metric for a new title. It’s called Roman Sands RE:Build, and is set to launch on September 16th, 2026, across multiple platforms.

It’s a shape-shifting absurdist adventure that bounces between a luxury resort and post-apocalyptic survival. There are two stories which overlap, twist together, and finally merge into one another. The goal across both stories is escaping systems that seem impossible to escape.

The story kicks off with you washing up ashore at a timeless luxury retreat. It’s full of completely unhinged inhabitants who aren’t bothered that the world is ending. The sun is only days away from swallowing the planet, yet the guests are still acting like their biggest problem is getting good service.

According to them, you work there, and you’ve already been slacking off. So, now you’re stuck racing against time, climbing the ranks, earning new equipment, serving increasingly demanding guests, and following a bunch of bizarre rules.

Beneath all the polished luxury, there are plenty of secrets hiding in the resort. You solve puzzles, dig into what’s really going on, unlock new tools, and take on stranger and stranger jobs. And after you get acquainted with all that, Roman Sands RE:Build suddenly throws you somewhere completely different.

The second half takes place inside a decaying zoological research station that’s stuck in its own time loop. You’re one of the last people left alive, and your only company is a dead cow. Oh, and there’s also someone talking to you over the radio.

A parasite has infected the station, clogging everything up. So, you have to decide if you should destroy it to preserve the station’s remaining research and whether it is worth risking your own survival. Life support is failing, and the outside world has become completely uninhabitable.

Roman Sands RE:Build launches on September 16th for PC via Steam, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation, and Xbox.
