Right in time for Halloween, developer Atlant Games has announced Reign of Guilds, an MMORPG that aims to bring the genre back to life.

To achieve that, the developer is looking to the past, rather than the future. It draws inspiration from classic RPGs like Oblivion and Mount and Blade, and combines them with World of Warcraft and Dark Age of Camelot.

You can play in first or third person, exploring a wide open medieval world. There are quests to complete, enemies to defeat, and, most importantly, other players to interact with.

Reign of Guilds Isn’t a Survival MMORPG

Reign of Guilds wants to distance itself from the myriad of sandbox survival MMORPGs right in its description. You’re not surviving, building cabins, or growing food here.

Instead, you are directly interacting with other players, You craft items, sell them to others, and possibly even set up your own trading guild. Markets play a huge goal in Reign of Guilds.

If you’re more into combat, you can instead battle for land. There’s a whole siege warfare system that sees you fight over land, castles, and even the throne itself.

How Does Combat Work?

Combat is very similar to The Elder Scrolls, with a first or third person perspective. You slash your sword, raise your shield to block, and fire off spells.

If you fall in combat, you will lose XP and drop your items, much like in classics like RuneScape. There’s also a karma system that punishes you for being a naughty player.

Overall, you can progress however you want to. You can focus on questing in PvE, crafting to help out other players, and murdering other players in the PvP system.

Where Can I Check Reign of Guilds Out?
