A really cool game, I can tell you that just by the looks of it. And I’m sure that you’ll agree with me once you get to know all about it. It’s Qliphah in Providence’s Shadow, an upcoming stylish tactical counter-timeline RPG.

Co-developed by Arc System Works and UnitePlus, the game was just unveiled this week. It’s launching on September 24th, 2026. The platforms include PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam and Epic Games Store. Pre-orders are live now.

In the game, Tokyo has completely fallen apart after an event known as the Collapse. Strange supernatural contamination is spreading everywhere. And horrifying creatures called Aberrations are roaming through what’s left of the city.

The story follows Soma Hoshigami, a 20-year-old delivery worker whose life goes horribly wrong after a supernatural monster attacks him. The encounter leaves him in a bizarre half-transformed state, somewhere between human and monster.

He later meets Rena Hizuki, a 28-year-old operative working for the Metropolitan Police Department and Public Safety Bureau. Together, they investigate the circumstances and find out about Tiny True. It’s a demonic narcotic that has been flooding the streets.

Now, let’s talk about the gameplay of Qliphah in Providence’s Shadow

A unique feature of the game is the Timeline Innovation system. During battles, a dynamic timeline gauge shows exactly when enemies plan to attack and what they’re preparing to do. It lets you intercept enemy actions, disrupt attacks, squeeze buffs into tiny openings, and create devastating counterattacks.

Qliphah in Providence’s Shadow revolves around manipulating and understanding the flow of combat over time. You stack skills together and chain attacks to unleash huge damage combos while constantly responding to enemy actions.

Visually, Qliphah in Providence uses a vibrant cel-shaded art style, with custom shaders emphasizing the unsettling appearance of the Aberrations. It features a fully voiced story campaign, a high-energy opening theme and multiple in-game insert songs. You can check out the latest trailer to get a gist of the game.
