Social game developer Playfish has just launched its latest Facebook game, Poker Rivals, the first new release since the company was acquired by Electronic Arts in November. Reporting on the story, VentureBeat commented that Poker Rivals “turns the tables” on Playfish’s social games rival Zynga by going after the same market as Zynga’s Texas HoldEm Poker game, which currently has almost 20 million active users on Facebook. Last week it was Zynga’s turn to launch PetVille, a game that bears more than a passing resemblance to Playfish’s Pet Society.
