Those who love atmospheric adventure games like Gris, Planet of Lana, or Ori and the Blind Forest will love this upcoming title, too. It’s called Nightscape from an indie team based in Qatar, Mezan Studios. The story is inspired by Arabian folklore.

The team just dropped a fresh narrative trailer for the game ahead of its release on PC via Steam, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. There are a bunch of dialogue scenes and little story hints, giving you a better idea of the upcoming adventure.

Nightscape follows Layla, a young stargazer who inherited her father’s love for astronomy

Long ago, Arabic constellations lit up the sky, but then a catastrophic event known as the Starfall changed everything. The stars literally fell from the sky, people forgot the names of the constellations, darkness swallowed the world, and Layla’s father disappeared during all the chaos.

Now, she’s setting out across an ancient Arabian land to figure out what happened to him. Alongside that, she’s also trying to return every fallen star to the sky and restore order to the broken world.

In this journey, there’s a goat with you the whole time. Surely, little companions make adventure games feel cosier. Stray made everyone love a cat, Spirit of the North had a fox, and now Nightscape is going with an adorable goat.

So, together with your little pet, you’ll explore the fractured world and solve puzzles. You survive dangerous areas and deal with dark creatures that showed up after the constellations vanished. Layla can defend herself using a bow and arrow, hunting down or warding off the dark entities.

Nightscape takes inspiration from ancient Arabian culture and Arabian astronomy, and the environments are based on real-life Arabian locations. You’ll travel through vast deserts, towering rocky cliffs, lush blooming peninsulas, fiery volcanoes, and atmospheric nighttime landscapes while searching for the fallen stars.
