New iOS Games Tonight: Steve Jackson’s Sorcery! 2, Dwice and more!

Have you ever heard of the old saying that good things always happen in threes? Well I don’t know who the genius was that came up with that one, but I don’t think that mindset could be farther from the truth: especially where the world of mobile gaming is concerned! After all, each Wednesday night good things happen by the dozen on the App Store alone, as gamers are soon met with more awesome games than they can even imagine (and so many more than a measly old three!).

Don’t believe me? Well here are just a few of the many great games that you’ll be able to download later on tonight, including a long-awaited follow-up to one of the best visual novel experiences that is currently available on the App Store, a shimmering arcade game from the inventor of Tetris, and another impossible challenge that is sure to keep your fingers tapping and sliding like crazy. So nice try, old ancient sayings, because good things come to mobile games in way more than just threes!

Steve Jackson’s Sorcery! 2 – The long-awaited and highly-anticipated second part to the wildly fantastic Steve Jackson’s Sorcery! saga is finally upon us tonight, and I for one couldn’t be more excited. Not only did the first part earn a perfect review score from us, but it also happened to be one of the finest visual novels we’ve ever had the chance to experience on a mobile device. Tonight’s second part in the story will be titled “Kharé: Cityport of Traps,” and features a sprawling environment with festivals to see, creatures to meet, and ghosts to battle. Utilizing the unique inklewriter technology once again that made the first part of the story such a magical thing to behold, Steve Jackson’s Sorcery! 2 is sure to bring with it all sorts of enchanted and whimsical offerings as we continue our journey into the exhilarating world of thieves and destruction.

Dwice – Have you ever wondered what it would be like if Tetris and Geometry Wars had a mobile game baby? Well wonder no more, because the brand new puzzle arcade game Dwice is looking to take the best of both worlds and craft a bright and magical experience of falling neon shapes and fast-paced matches that is truly something all its own. And do you know what the coolest part about it is? The fact that Dwice comes to us from none other than Alexey Pajitnov, the original inventor of Tetris himself! In the game, players are tasked with dragging vibrant Battle Shapes around on the screen in order to form collisions and make them disappear from the game board. And by utilizing the smooth touchscreen controls, building chain combos and boosting those high scores are sure to be a breeze.

Octagon – I hope you’ve been doing well with your anger management seminars lately, because this week is gearing up to throw another “impossible” mobile game into the fold that is sure to leave you reaching for those challenging high scores and putting a few new holes in your bedroom wall during the process. The incredibly sleek and exhilarating Octagon from Lukas Korba looks like a blockier cross between Impossible Road and Boson X, where the singular goal is to travel as fast as you can while not falling into oblivion by means of holes, speed bumps, or any other number of obstacles designed to trip you up and stop you short. I mean, the subtitle of the game is even “A Minimal Arcade Game with Maximum Challenge,” so you already know that you’re gonna be getting your impossible fill in with this one later on tonight!

Debonair Facial Hair – I’m going to let everyone in on an embarrassing little secret right now: even though I’m fully capable of growing a big hearty beard that would warrant a thumbs-up of approval from any lumberjack you may know, I’m still a bit lacking in the moustache department. That’s right, no matter how hard I try to grow a moustache these days, it never ends up looking like anything more than a random patch of peach fuzz on my upper lip. But that’s okay, because soon I’ll have the incredibly quirky Debonair Facial Hair to make all of my wildest moustache-focused dreams come true! The premise of the game is certainly unique, as players will be put in the shoes of an apprentice barber and tasked with sculpting some of the most magical and heroic moustaches that the patrons of the town have ever seen. Me next, please!
