New iOS Games Tonight: Robot Unicorn Attack 2, House of the Dead Overkill: The Lost Reels and more!

I know I say it every time, but this is a super awesome week for iOS games. In fact, it’s probably one of the best we’ve seen so far in 2013! Don’t believe me? Just take a gander at the list of titles launching later this evening.

I know I say it every time, but this is a super awesome week for iOS games. In fact, it’s probably one of the best we’ve seen so far in 2013! Don’t believe me? Just take a gander at the list of titles launching later this evening.

As many of you iOS gamers already know, Wednesday night is typically when most big-name releases arrive on the App Store. It’s like a little digital Christmas that happens every seven days, although I’m not so sure who plays Santa in this scenario. Apple, I guess? And that would make the developers the elves… and the App Store would be the reindeer?

I’m thinking way too hard about this.

Robot Unicorn Attack 2 – Bet you didn’t see this one coming! The much-loved Robot Unicorn Attack is getting the sequel treatment, featuring unicorn upgrades, power-ups, new environments, and new music.

The timing on this is pretty perfect, as I was just thinking about the recent dearth of unicorns on iOS.

House of the Dead Overkill: The Lost Reels – I had a blast when I played this zombie shooter back at GDC. It’s the mobile debut of House of the Dead Overkill, a Wii game that also found its way to PS3. It’s over-the-top, it’s violent, and best of all, it’s as campy as can be.

Iron Man 3 – Licensed games are always a little iffy, but we love ourselves some comic book heroes, and so we’re optimistic about Iron Man 3. It’s an endless runner with gorgeous visuals and a behind-the-back perspective, which sounds quite similar to a certain other popular iOS game.

Early reports are saying the freemium model might be a little heavy-handed, but you can find out for sure in our forthcoming review.
