Zynga offers virtual in-game rewards through promotion with Frito-Lay

Gaming and salty snacks go together like–well, gaming and salty snacks. Zynga has revealed a promotion with Frito-Lay that offers virtual goods from FarmVille, CityVille, and CastleVille via codes packed in with select Frito-Lay snacks. After all, what says “farm-fresh food” like deep-fried chips and corn puffs?

Gaming and salty snacks go together like–well, gaming and salty snacks. Zynga has revealed a promotion with Frito-Lay that offers virtual goods from FarmVille, CityVille, and CastleVille via codes packed in with select Frito-Lay snacks. After all, what says “farm-fresh food” like deep-fried chips and corn puffs?

Here’s how it works: Players chow down on specially-marked bags of Frito-Lay brand snack food (including Cheetos and Doritos) and find codes that can be redeemed in participating games. Players who redeem four different codes from four different snack brands (and who also use a $15 or $25 Zynga Card in that particular game) will receive a “super reward” item. These items include a Pegacorn for FarmVille–which is a Pegasus-unicorn hybrid, if you’re not up to snuff on your mythological zoology–glowing glass condominiums in CityVille, and the Red Knight’s horse in Castleville.

The campaign begun on March 1, and will carry on through April 12. There are over five million branded snack bags, and they’re all available at 3,400 Wal-Mart locations across the United States.

Want our advice? Go for the Pegacorn. Its magic would make short work of the glass condos, and it can out-fly the Red Knight’s horse on any day of the week. Either way, happy munching!
