Mountain Dew and Dunkin’ Donuts team up for strange new Facebook game

To celebrate the launch of the new Mountain Dew Coolata beverage, Dunkin’ Donuts has decided to … make a Facebook game? Actually, the Unfreeze It Facebook app is more of a contest than a game, but it features some interesting real world elements and game-like qualities.

To celebrate the launch of the new Mountain Dew Coolata beverage, Dunkin’ Donuts has decided to … make a Facebook game? Actually, the Unfreeze It Facebook app is more of a contest than a game, but it features some interesting real world elements and game-like qualities.

Users can register over at the app for a chance to control a real world water cannon in an attempt to break a Coolata free from a block of ice. Participants will be selected each day and will be able to pre-program a trio of shots from the water cannon, before being able to watch a live broadcast of the event on the game’s page. Whoever is first to successfully melt the ice and release the cup each day will get a prize, ranging from a mountain bike to a camcorder.

In addition to the daily prize, everyone who registers will be entered in a drawing for the grand prize: a 3D Sony television.

The contest runs from now until May 28th.
