Fieldrunners is one of the better tower defense games available on mobile devices, and now you can play it in your browser. For free.

Developer Subatomic Studios has released a free-to-play, HTML5 version of the game in the Chrome app store, complete with new content, including two new modes and a brand new tower.

The HTML5 version of the game features both a time trial and sudden death mode, introduces a new poison tower that damages enemies over time, and is available to play in both high and standard definition modes. The free-to-play model gives players the first eight maps for free, while subsequent maps will cost $0.99 each or $4.99 for the bundle, making this the cheapest version of the game yet.

“HTML5 support is showing up in all major browsers, including Chrome,” Subatomic co-founder Jamie Gotch said. “This means huge things for games. We wanted to throw our hat in the ring with an updated, HTML 5 version of Fieldrunners, and the Chrome Web Store seemed like a great place to launch it.”

In order to play the game you’ll need to be using Google’s Chrome web browser. You can find the HTML5 version of Fieldrunners here.
