The popular German adventure game Edna & Harvey: The Breakout will finally be coming to North America courtesy of Merscom, who will be publishing an English-language version online and at retail later this year.
Developed by Hamburg-based Daedalic Entertainment, Edna & Harvey won two 2008 German Game Developer Awards, including Best Adventure Game of 2008. The point-and-click adventure boasts 2D backgrounds and characters that are hand-drawn in a unique cartoon style, twisted humor, and challenging puzzles.
The story begins when Edna wakes up in the padded cell of an insane asylum with no memory of her past or how she ended up there. Only one thing is for certain: She has been wrongfully imprisoned and will have to escape! After all, she feels entirely sane – and her speaking stuffed toy bunny Harvey wholeheartedly agrees.
Together Edna and Harvey undertake a daring breakout attempt, meeting up with numerous oddball inmates, like the Man in the Bee’s Costume or Siamese twins Hoti and Moti. But Dr. Marcel, the sinister head of the institute, will do everything in his power to stop Edna. What evil scheme is afoot? Slowly Edna begins to regain her memories of the past…
The English version of the game will be available in the fourth quarter of 2009.
