USA Today has broken some fantastic news for fans of the popular web-based superhero RPG: starting on June 13, you’ll be able to take the game on the go courtesy of your iPhone or iPad. Named best Facebook Game of 2012 right here on Gamezebo, Marvel Avengers Alliance later made the jump to Playdom.com for those who prefer an alternative to Facebook gaming. The mobile version will mark the first time that the game will available outside of your desktop browser.
“We think there’s a lot of people who don’t play games on Facebook that really want to play this game,” said Justin Woods, producer on Avengers Alliance in the USA Today piece. “Hardcore gamers don’t really play games on Facebook, and it’s just because they didn’t have the right game to play. Now you see more and more games targeted at hardcore gamers on the Facebook platform.”
There’s no word yet on if you’ll be able to sync the mobile version to your existing Facebook or Playdom accounts, but considering those two versions are incompatible already, it’s just as likely that this will be a standalone product too. Having said that, maybe we’ll get lucky and Playdom will surprise us.
