Legacy Interactive has announced that a sequel to the hidden object game The Lost Cases of Sherlock Holmes will launch for PC download in December, 2009 and will hit retail shelves in the first quarter of 2010.

According to Legacy Interactive, The Lost Cases of Sherlock Holmes, Vol. 2 is the first computer game officially licensed by both The Sherlock Holmes Company as well as the Conan Doyle Estate. Players will join Sherlock Holmes at his famous apartment at 221b Baker St. to solve 16 new mysteries. Over the course of the adventure, players will come face-to-face with murder, theft, forgery, dog-napping and even the supernatural.

With the help of Dr. Watson, Sherlock’s trusted right-hand-man, players will hunt for more than 1,000 hidden objects while exploring 45 stunning locations set in Victorian-era London. In addition to solving dozens of puzzles and mini-games, players will also have to narrow down the list of suspects by playing a Sudoku-style picture game to piece together the evidence.

"We are thrilled to be developing the first game that is endorsed by both the Conan Doyle Estate and the Sherlock Holmes Company," said Ariella Lehrer, President and CEO of Legacy Interactive, in a statement. "We take our commitment to quality very seriously, and hope to exceed the expectations of the millions of fans worldwide of this beloved license. The Lost Cases of Sherlock Holmes, Vol. 2 will provide hours of entertainment for Sherlock Holmes, puzzle, and mystery fans alike."

The original game, The Lost Cases of Sherlock Holmes, has sold more than 200,000 copies.
