As mentioned before, most iPhone apps with a time sensitive release date see the light of day in New Zealand first thanks to the international date line.
Based on typical price conversion from the NZ to US store, we’ll most likely see the iPhone version with a $7.99 price tag while the iPad version should arrive at a slightly steeper $9.99. For that extra $2, PocketGamer reports that iPad owners can expect special behind-the-scenes artwork from the original and special editions of the game, as well as developer commentary from Tim Schafer, Ron Gilbert, and Dave Grossman.
The original Secret of Monkey Island received the special edition treatment last year, receiving a new paint job, voice acting, and a re-mastered musical score. This much anticipated sequel is following suit, and upping the ante with some new visual elements and an alternate control system. We loved the transition the original took (read our iPhone review here) and have little doubt that the sequel will have trouble living up to its predecessor.
