La-Mulana 2 Kickstarter: halfway to $200k within days
The Kickstarter campaign for La-Mulana 2 has managed to pull in over $118,000 in just four days. With 2,457 backers, and twenty-nine days to go, Nigoro and Playism are seeking an additional $82,000 to meet their Kickstarter goal.
La-Mulana 2 is the direct sequel to 2011’s La-Mulana. In the sequel, players are archeologists tasked with discovering the entrance of ruins that are rumored to be the source of the recent influx in monster appearances.
“It’s true that La-Mulana 2 is a sequel,” explain the developers on the Kickstarter campaign, “but we want to make it enjoyable both for people returning to the series and newcomers alike. While, ‘You don’t need to have played the prequel!’ is a horribly overused cliché, we feel it’s appropriate here. We want all players to be able to play and enjoy our work.”

La-Mulana 2 features non-linear exploration, action platforming, and puzzle solving. Nigoro believes that players can expect to get 20-30 hours out of their initial playthrough, with plenty of replaybility afterwards.
Many fans of the first game wondered why Nigoro turned to Kickstarter when their first title was successful.
“We’ve always wanted to expand the universe of La-Mulana and improve upon the concepts we introduced in the first game,” Nigoro explains on the Kickstarter campaign. “What we feared, is that we wouldn’t have the funds to make the game we wanted to make, and the game our fans deserve… Our team is small, but we have to be able to fully develop and polish the game before our funding runs out. However, we refuse to rush the project, because if we do, it will (rightfully) be ignored by fans and will prevent us from making any more games.”
