King’s Bounty: Legions heads into invite-only beta

The King’s Bounty series is coming to Facebook in the form of King’s Bounty: Legions, and a closed beta has just launched, so you can get a first look at the strategy game … provided you’re lucky enough to score an invitation.

There are currently two ways to get into the invite-only beta: receive an invite from someone who is already playing the game, or score a key by signing up for an account over at GamesRadar. If you want to get in you’ll need to act fast, though, as the invites are limited in number.

The game will add a social and competitive layer to the long-running strategy series, but retains the same tactical strategy that’s made it so popular with fans. To get an idea of what ll the fuss is about, check out the trailer below and read our first look preview.

King’s Bounty: Legions Review

If you've found yourself disillusioned by recent ambitious releases such as Civilization World, take heart--King's Bounty: Legions is a game that proves you can adapt a beloved classic title for Facebook without sacrificing quality. And in this case, it's tempting to call the Facebook version every bit as good as the original. Here is a game that demands the right level of strategic competence while sporting beautifully rendered character animations and textures. It doesn't nickel-and-dime you, it offers satisfying battles every time you play, and it never shies from throwing down the gauntlet of challenge. Hardcore gamers, this may be the game you've been waiting for.

King’s Bounty: Legions Preview

The venerable King's Bounty series, which has been around since 1990 on PC, will be making its debut on Facebook this summer courtesy of strategy game publisher Nival. King's Bounty: Legions will introduce turn-based strategy gameplay along with player-versus-player (PvP) combat that allows Facebook friends to compete with each other through the popular social network.
