Developer King.com has announced that its games, which span mobile, Facebook, and online, are now being played more than a billion times a month. This puts King.com amongst the top 10 developers on Facebook, and the developer is continuing to expand with new games in the works and the opening of two new offices in San Francisco and Romania.

Of those more than one billion gameplays last month, more than 600 million came from two Facebook games: Bubble Witch Saga and Bubble Saga. While many other developers are targeting the burgeoning younger male demographic with hardcore strategy games, King.com is going a different route.

“A key driver for our success with these games is the clear focus on a particular demographic – women aged 30-50,” King.com CMO Alex Dale told Gamezebo. “This focus helps us cross-sell new games to our existing audience – the new titles are designed to appeal to the same demographic.”

While the new San Francisco office will focus on business development, the Romanian office will be developing new releases, including cross-platform versions of popular Facebook games.

“The studio will primarily be working on developing the mobile versions of King.com’s hit Facebook games to support its multi-platform games initiatives,” explained Dale, “providing games online, on Facebook, and across mobile and tablet platforms.”

Earlier this year King.com made its debut on mobile devices with the release of Miner Speed. The company was originally founded as a games portal back in 2003. And while those online games will continue, King.com will also further its push into the world mobile and social gaming with a number of new, unannounced games released on a regular basis.

“King.com will continue to develop quality games for Facebook with a new game emerging monthly,” said Dale. “We’ll also be working to increase our output of mobile games that connect and extend upon our Facebook games.”
