Kickstarter Picks: God of Blades
Normally when we talk about a game that’s trying to raise funds on Kickstarter, we try to give you a nice little preview of what you might expect from the finished product. This one’s a little harder, because we’ve done that already. In fact, we were so impressed by the scope of the project in our God of Blades preview that there’s really only one thing left to say: we implore you to donate.

Not convincing enough? Ok. Let me start again.
God of Blades is an upcoming iOS game that’s a little like someone took pulp fantasy fiction, side-scrolling brawlers, RPG’s, and the side of every airbrushed van in the 70’s and put them into a blender.

The developers sheds a little more light on the game’s contents on their official Kickstarter page;
“Players assume the role of a nameless spectral king standing resolute against the march of a devouring, void-crazed horde on a dying world. Wrenching this world from the grasp of oblivion, the player wields phantom blades forged from the legends and heritage of the vanishing planet. Emergent, physics-driven swordplay, procedurally generated nemeses, and persistent character development propel the player through lush environments crafted in the fashion of traditional Japanese narrative scrolls and 18th and 19th century moving panorama.”
Kickstarter pledges will be rewarded with a variety of cool swag, such as t-shirts, free copies of the game, an art book, and – best of all – prints of the fake book covers that White Whale Games have created, claiming the game is based on these lost novels from the mid-20th century. Actually, scratch that. Best of all is the the $500 pledge level that will get your name as the author on one of these fictional fiction novels.

Project Name: God of Blades
Platforms: iPhone, iPad
Funding Needed: $4,000
Funding Acquired (as of this writing): $2,642

Kickstarter Picks is a series of features on Gamezebo that will profile Kickstarter projects in the world of video games. We’re doing this in the hopes of calling attention to interesting projects in need of funding, so please, if a game looks like something you’d want to play, don’t hesitate to lend it your support!
