Indie Royale celebrates bountiful season with the Harvest Bundle

By Dant Rambo |

It’s November, and you’re probably stressed about whether you’ll have time to play all of the great games coming out. The first worldliest of problems, admittedly, but we still sympathize. It’s an uphill battle, and one that things like work and school tend to get in the way of. But with no real solution in sight, why not commit to the insanity and pick up more games? If you’re into such madness, then Indie Royale’s “Harvest” bundle is what you’ve been waiting for.

If I had to describe this bundle’s games in one word, it would probably be “quirky.” There’s some really neat stuff in here, so don’t be surprised if you feel your gaming paradigm has expanded rapidly after playing all of them.

The games include:

Mutant Mudds – We said as much in our review, but Mutant Mudds is a fantastic 2D platformer that will leave you waxing nostalgic for the days of 16-bit.

Pineapple Smash Crew – If a perky twin-stick shooter is what you crave, Pineapple Smash Crew ought to do the trick. Just don’t expect to see much pineapple.

Spirits – One of man’s greatest wishes is to control the elements around him. By giving players a chance to control the wind, Spirits goes a long way towards offering such power. But with great power comes great responsibility (pretty topical reference, I know), and you must use your newfound ability to guide the spirits of fallen leaves home.

Avernum: The Great Trials Trilogy – This is actually 3 games (what a twist!), including Avernum 4, Avernum 5, and Avernum 6. I’m not entirely sure if this is considered a lethal dose of fantasy RPG, but it certainly comes close.

BasketBelle – I’m amazed it took someone this long to throw basketball mechanics into a 2D platformer. I mean, there were some weird sections in that old Space Jam game that kind of count. In any case, BasketBelle is proof that that sports and platformers need to hang out more often.

The bundle also includes the soundtracks for BasketBelle and Spirits, plus a digital sketchbook of the former. And should you pitch in over $8, you’ll also receive an album from chiptune label Data Airlines.

Go forth, and check out some neat indie games.
