iCade 8-Bitty to bring NES-style controls to your smartphone

The iCade gaming cabinet for mobile devices has been given nothing but rave reviews since it released, and was even praised by us for its superb control. We’ve also seen the announcement of three new promising iCades at CES, so it is a bit surprising to see ThinkGeek reveal the 8-Bitty controller just over a month later.

What’s to love about this adorable controller? You can use it to play iCade compatible games on your iPhone or Android device. The design features a d-pad and buttons reminiscent of the original 8-bit Nintendo Entertainment System, with a few extra buttons for the additional functionality some games require.

Rounding out the design are the 70’s color scheme and wood finish on the side, just to polish off what is already a retro trip for anyone old enough to remember the days when this simple style was considered state-of-the-art.

Releasing at just $25, this controller is quite a steal compared to some of the other alternatives available. We’re not exactly sure when the 8-bitty is going to hit the ThinkGeek store, but you can sign up to be notified on their website by clicking the “Email Me” link on this page.
