Finnish developer Fingersoft has launched Hill Climb Racing Lite on the browser gaming website Poki.

This has made the mobile physics-racing game available on your browser without the need to download anything, with this version including the franchise’s signature vehicle physics.

It also adds features designed for quick play sessions – read on to learn more.

World Tour Adds Level-Based Progression

The Hill Climb Racing franchise has accumulated over 2.5 billion downloads since launching on mobile in 2012.

On Poki, it has included the series’ infinite driving mode but also adds World Tour. This is a level-based progression system with hand-picked vehicles and specific objectives. Unlike the endless format this presents challenges with defined finish lines.

Each level in World Tour offers terrain challenges that use the game’s physics engine, where vehicles respond to hills, jumps, and obstacles.

You navigate different vehicles through varied environments, collecting coins and managing fuel levels while avoiding crashes. The progression system allows you to resume from your last completed level as well.

The World Tour mode includes multiple stages with increasing difficulty too. You unlock new levels by completing previous ones, creating a structured path through the game’s content rather than the open-ended approach of the infinite mode.

Cartapult Reduces Restart Time

This browser version also introduces Cartapult, an instant restart system that returns you to your crash point without waiting periods when your vehicle crashes.

Traditional game-over sequences and loading screens have been reduced to allow faster iteration on difficult sections. This approach suits players who access the game during breaks or between other activities.

Fingersoft have optimized the browser version for performance across different systems to boot, ensuring the physics calculations run smoothly in web browsers. The technical work involved converting mobile code to run efficiently in HTML5 while maintaining the same vehicle handling and terrain interaction from the original versions.

Fingersoft and Browser Gaming

This latest browser release reflects Fingersoft’s stated principle of “Good Games, Great People” and its approach to reaching players worldwide. Founded in 2012 in Oulu, Finland, the studio employs nearly 100 people from different countries.

Fingersoft CEO Jaakko Kylmäoja commented on the company’s player focus when announcing the franchise recently surpassed 2.5 billion installs. “Every download, every moment spent with our games is a testament to the joy we strive to bring to you all,” Kylmäoja said.

The franchise shows continued player engagement more than a decade after the original mobile release, with regular updates and the incorporation of player feedback.

Browser Version Targeting Different Players

Hill Climb Racing Lite targets players who have not accessed the franchise on mobile. The browser version requires no account creation or app installation and loads within seconds for example, removing technical barriers that prevent some users from accessing mobile games.

The release timing coincides with increased activity in browser gaming, which provides immediate game access without using device storage. The browser-based game website serves over 90 million players monthly who access various game genres through instant-play functionality.

For Fingersoft the browser release extends the franchise to additional distribution channels. The franchise that started as a physics experiment by founder Toni Fingerroos now operates across mobile, web, and other gaming systems while maintaining its core gameplay mechanics that have engaged players for over a decade. The original Hill Climb Racing reached 100 million downloads within its first year after the 2012 launch.

You can play Hill Climb Racing Lite now at poki.com without downloads or account requirements. The browser version runs on computers, tablets, and other devices with modern web browsers.
