Great games to play with your loved one this Valentine’s Day

Ah, love is in the air this Valentine’s Day! I’m sure a lot of people will be making a fancy dinner at home for their boyfriend or girlfriend. Others might be going to a sold-out Broadway show with their husband or wife. But since you’re here reading this article on Gamezebo, I’ve got another idea: why not play some great games with your loved one this February 14th?

Maybe they’re a fun way to collaborate or simply pass the iPad around, but the odds are your partner will love the following list of games almost as much as they love you! And if I’m being completely honest, I’d like to think that a lot of these games are way better than flowers or chocolate or front-row Broadway tickets, anyway.

Little Things Forever

news

Little Things Forever just simply oozes cuteness, and as a casual hidden object game, it’s got a remarkable visual style that’s entirely its own. But that’s not to say that finding those little objects hidden inside a larger object will always be easy, and so it helps to have two pairs of eyes to track down every last button, umbrella, and stray underwear.

Rayman Origins

news

Co-op platformers are great games to play with your significant other because they encourage, wait for it, cooperation! Rayman Origins is one of the best games to come out of the genre in years, and it’s also one of my favorites to play with my girlfriend. Collect every yellow Lum in the game, and your love for one another will be completely unstoppable!

To The Moon

news

Who doesn’t love to watch the occasional romantic movie with their loved one? Well To The Moon is kind of like an interactive love story: albeit an incredibly, incredibly sad and utterly moving one. So if you and your special someone decide to embark on this adventure together, just make sure you bring a box of tissues, and lots and lots of ice cream.

Scribblenauts Unlimited

news

I’ve found Scribblenauts Unlimited and the other fantastic games in the series to be great relationship builders, whether you’ve just started dating someone or have being going out for a few years. Not only are you working as a pair to help Maxwell solve a multitude of fun and lighthearted puzzles, but it’s also a lot of fun trying to outdo one another in terms of the weird things you can create!

Tiny Games

news

Tiny Games is a totally fun and unique gaming experience that lets you step outside your comfort zone, and it’s one that’s sure to be a blast no matter where you’ve decided to go this Valentine’s Day. And that’s because the game devises fun real world “mini-games” depending on your current location, like having a hole-puncher race or trying to enlist strangers in the park to help you pull off an imaginary bank heist.

Dice+

news

Everyone loves a good old board game now and then, and Dice+ looks to reinvent that familiarity with a new digital twist: namely, a digital die that is able to communicate with several mini-games on your iPad after being rolled. Not only is it cool and a whole lot of fun, but you may also score some brownie points on the Neat-o Meter for having such a nifty piece of tech in your gaming drawer.

Gentlemen!

news

Picture this: you on one end of an iPad, and your loved one on the other, both of you racing to best the other in a trap-infused Victorian gauntlet to the death. Now if that isn’t the definition of true love, then I don’t know what is! But so goes the premise of Lucky Frame’s Gentlemen!, and it’s a whole lot of wacky fun to share the screen in a ridiculously over-the-top bout such as this!

The Yawhg

news

The Yawhg is kind of like a giant box of Valentine’s Day chocolates – you never know exactly what you’re going to get once you start playing it (well I guess unless you look at the chocolate guide on the top of the box). But still, as one of the only storytelling party game hybrids that I know of, there’s nothing like preparing for the end of the world (courtesy of the Yawhg) with your significant other right by your side.

Heads Up!

news

This is another great source for some silly fun on Valentine’s Day, as Heads Up! will have you putting your iPhone on your head as you compete with your loved one in a game of Charades with a fresh and interesting twist! The twist here is that the other person will be acting out the words, while you’ve got to try and guess what the heck is being displayed up there on your head-phone.

Fez

news

Fez is easily one of the most puzzling platformers I’ve ever played, and finding every last one of the game’s devious Anti-Cubes was a real lesson in communication and thinking outside of the box. So that’s why this one is so much fun to play with the help of a loved one, as not only is the game visually gorgeous and just refreshingly different, but it’ll really open up some new areas of conversation: like those maddening QR codes!

Nidhogg

news

If you’re in the competitive kind of mood this Valentine’s Day, what better way to say “No I love YOU more” than by owning your sweetheart in a frenetic one-on-one sword fight? Nidhogg is one of the best multiplayer experiences that we’ve seen in quite some time, and the best part is that you can even play it side by side while sharing the keyboard.

Triple Town

news

This last one almost didn’t make the cut, because it comes with one big warning to anyone who’s thinking of playing it: Triple Town is highly addicting. If you’ve never played Triple Town before, then get ready to clear entire days from your schedule for the next few months. Getting rid of all those pesky bears and building the esteemed Triple Castle is no easy feat when going it alone, and so having a two-person strategy session could make all the difference between creating a lavishing town or an overrun bear village!
