I like cosy platformers, or any cosy title for that matter. One of such titles is the upcoming Grapple Bear, which is launching for PC on July 17th, 2026. The game is developed by the Hungarian solo developer ProkischDaniel and the studio HaviEgyJatek.

You play as a mama bear trying to find her lost cub. But you can’t run normally, as your only way to move is with a grappling hook. You have to swing, launch yourself through the air, cling to surfaces, and survive while making your way across increasingly nasty levels.

On top of that difficult journey, there’s something following you through the dark. Well, if you ask me, it’s not much different from the real life of real mama bears out there. Movement itself is the challenge here.

Grapple Bear comes with more than 40 handcrafted story levels

The stages are pretty bite-sized. You swing through hazards, moving obstacles, environmental puzzles, and platforming sections. Part of the goal is to reach the flagpole, either. Once you get there, you still have to survive until the flag lowers completely.

The main location includes peaceful forests with gentle streams. Then there are crumbling ruins from an ancient civilisation, lava-filled caverns, windy cliffs, unstable structures with nowhere safe to stand, thorn-covered passages, and even mysterious wormholes that bend reality.

Every level in Grapple Bear has global online leaderboards, so you can compare your fastest times with players around the world. Every second matters because you’ll constantly be looking for better routes, tighter swings, and little shortcuts that shave precious time off your run.

Even after finishing the main adventure, there’s more content to explore. Every single week, Grapple Bear adds a new procedurally generated challenge level. Each weekly stage gets its own Steam leaderboard.

The visuals in the game are hand-drawn illustrations on paper, which were later digitally coloured and turned into the final game. Grapple Bear lands on Steam on July 17th for $4.99.
