Google Chrome is a great web browser, but it’s also picking up as a gaming platform. Not surprisingly, support for Chrome’s gaming is increasing, according to Google developer advocate Paul Kinlan who was recently speaking at the Develop Liverpool conference.
Google Chrome is a great web browser, but it’s also picking up as a gaming platform. Not surprisingly, support for Chrome’s gaming is increasing, according to Google developer advocate Paul Kinlan who was recently speaking at the Develop Liverpool conference.
Kinlan explained that the popularity of HTML5 web apps has helped the Google Chrome Web Store continue to grow at a rapid rate. As a result, Kinlan stated that Chrome is set to receive plug-and-play gamepad support in order to create a “web-based console experience.”
It’ll be interesting to see how Google sets up this gamepad support, especially if Google creates its own hardware. At the same time, you’ll probably be able to use a wired Xbox 360 and/or PS3 controller with Chrome.
Personally, using a gamepad with Chrome sounds like it’d be pretty fun. I know I’ll finally have an excuse to use my Tron: Legacy-themed PS3 controller.
