PC/Mac portal GamersGate has announced plans to expand its global team by opening a new office in New York in early 2012. The announcement comes on the heels of a successful fiscal year for the digital portal, which saw 50% sales growth in 2011. Void, GamersGate’s ad-supported free games platform, is set to launch in 2012 as well.

According to GamersGate CEO Theodore Bergquist, the New York office will better position GamersGate as a global company and is closer in proximity to many US-based publishers. “As our customer base grows, we have to grow as well,” he added.
