Developer and publisher of the shoot ‘em up and action series POSTAL is preparing for a new addition to the series. Running With Scissors is developing Flesh & Wire, which is moving into a different direction in terms of the genre. Still very much an FPS, it’s also a psychological horror spinoff of the series.

Flesh & Wire is a return to the themes and setting of the very first POSTAL game. Also, it brings a new main character, Angel, to the POSTAL universe. According to the devs, her story brings back the darkness that defined the original game.

Angel is a normal college student whose life turns upside down after a sudden muzzle flash of horrific violence. Alongside her in this journey is her loyal sphynx cat, Solomon. She becomes determined to finding answers behind everything that’s happened.

That revenge trip makes Angel cross paths with law enforcement, the National Guard, and a sinister cult. In fact, it all connects back to the Postal Dude! So, she’s ultimately chasing the crazed gunman who completely changed her life forever.

In the game, Angel isn’t only fighting soldiers and cultists. She’s also battling herself. Her own darkness, created by that horrifying act of violence that destroyed her normal life, becomes just as dangerous as everything else trying to kill her. Take a look at the latest trailer.

And what about the gameplay in Flesh & Wire?

You move between real-world locations and the Dreamscape, where familiar places become warped by fear and rage. There’s the Megachurch, which transforms into a twisted Dreamscape area called Deception. That’s where horrifying bosses like the Heavy are waiting, lying dormant while feeding on anguish and terror.

You get access to a brutal arsenal that ranges from regular firearms and explosives to improvised weapons and even supernatural tools. You’ll fight through familiar streets close to home before reaching the outskirts of the city, then continue into desolate valleys and snow-covered mountains.

Flesh & Wire is coming to Steam, GOG, and PlayStation 5 in 2027.
