Developer Fearwoods has launched a new update for their upcoming title, also called Fearwoods. If you liked Phasmophobia or other co-op horror games like Lethal Company, you might like this one, too, because it’s heavily inspired by them.

The update adds a new trailer and a development roadmap that shows where the game is headed from its demo to early access and eventually the full game. The demo will include one partial map, basic Aveline behaviour, fragmented narrative content, a small exploration area, and a playable online co-op mode.

Then, Early Access expands with one full map and other improved features. The full game will arrive with three chapters spread across three maps, more dynamic horror events, ceiling crawling, and other advanced features.

What’s the narrative in Fearwoods?

It drops you into a cursed forest where light, silence, and teamwork are the only things keeping everyone alive. You explore the woods, trying to uncover the mystery surrounding Aveline. It’s all while you survive supernatural threats and escape before the darkness completely consumes you.

Light is your lifeline, and making too much noise can be just as dangerous. These are the two things you ought to keep in mind. You gather GPS pieces until the signal gets stronger, hear someone answer over the radio, and race toward what might be a rescue helicopter.

The forest itself becomes your enemy, silence is always hanging over you, and some shadow is constantly watching. There’s also a demon chasing you, and that’s when, eventually, things stop being subtle.

Sometimes the only option is running away. Or you could also hide, switch off your flashlight, and stay completely still because the demon senses fear and feeds on it. Even in the dark, exploration is a major part of the experience.

Fearwoods is for 1-3 players, where you have to work together but also separate to survive. You can wishlist the game on Steam now. It’s set to release in the coming months.
