A new addition in the Fears To Fathom franchise just dropped onto PC, and the new chapter, Ironbark Lookout, promises to be as frightening as ever. Now you can enjoy the unenviable situation of being trapped out in the North American wilds, with someone, or something, that means you harm.

Missing 411 Time

You step into the role of Jack Nelson, a young man who takes a job as a fire lookout. This means sitting up on a watchtower in the middle of nowhere and keeping an eye out for uncontrolled fires in the region.

Sounds easy, right? Well, maybe not so much when something sinister is going on in Ironbark State Park. People are disappearing in the surrounding forest, and no-one knows why. Soon Jack find himself in a desperate fight for his life, far from help.

Down To Earth Terrors

Fears To Fathom is a series of horror games that put you in unsettlingly relatable situations, one you could see yourself in. The first entry, Home Alone, covers the dread of being the only person in the house when someone appears to be trying to get in.

Episode Two, Norwood Hitchhike covers the fear and vulnerability of being a young woman forced to hitch a ride after dark in an unfamiliar place.. as things take a terrible turn. The third game, Carson House is about house-sitting in a very well-appointed house.. but something is not quite right.

This is all wrapped up in a VHS aesthetic that takes you back to the 80s and 90s… when it was a lot harder to reach out for help when you were in trouble.

You can check out all of the entries via Steam. The first in the series is completely free to play, so give it a try to see if it’s something you’re into. The games are short, but not too expensive.
