With Happy Island coming to the iPhone thanks to Sibblingz and the rumors of some interesting domain registrations possibly on the part of Zynga, it seemed pretty much inevitable that the Facebook mega-hit FarmVille would be coming to the iPhone. Today at Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference, the inevitable was confirmed.

As reported on the Engadget live weblog of the event, Zynga CEO Mark Pincus took the stage at 10:19 Pacific this morning to make the announcement. “Today we’re introducing ‘Farming’ for the iPhone. FarmVille is our most popular game, and we’re excited to bring it to the most popular mobile platform in the world,” said Pincus. “With FarmVille on the iPhone, you’ll be able to farm anytime, anywhere.”

Pincus also confirms that in-app purchases will be available, including a snow leopard that will be exclusive to the iPhone version (a tongue-in-cheek nod to Apples current Mac OS.) Most importantly, players will be able to sync FarmVille on their iPhone to FarmVille on Facebook, allowing them to play the same farm on multiple devices.
