Facebook reveals Games of the Year list for 2013

This year has certainly been an interesting one for the Facebook games space, as the social media website has begun to see more and more mid and hardcore game experiences crop up on the platform, while the recent trend of cross-platform play has allowed the seamless transition between playing the same game on Facebook and your mobile device. Now that’s all well and fine and everything, but what exactly were those games that made such a big splash on the old FB in 2013?

Well to help you key-in on the best of the best, Facebook has unveiled their anticipated “Games of the Year” list for 2013, with the winners being selected through a combination of “user ratings, Facebook implementation, growth, and overall quality.” Besides singling out the number one selection of 2013, Facebook has decided to leave the other best new games unranked in the rest of their list.

Also new this year are two additional categories to the overall list: the Staff Favorite games, which are what the folks at Facebook themselves just can’t seem to stop playing around the office; and the Hall of Fame, which highlights a few outstanding games that were released before 2013, but are still doing amazingly well even today. (It’s also interesting to note that Facebook’s number one choice for 2013 only scored a mere 2.5 stars in Gamezebo’s own official review, so it just goes to show how gamers can have vastly different perspectives!)

You can check out the full list of winners just below this paragraph, and be sure to hit the comments section and let us know what your personal favorite Facebook games of 2013 were! Congratulations to all of this year’s winners, and here’s to hoping we see another batch of great games hit the social platform in 2014 and beyond.
