The demo for mystery game Edicts of the Truthsinger: The Orb of Artemagus is now out on Steam. Developed and published by Triple Cerberus Studios, the full game is scheduled to launch on October 30th, 2026.

The art for the game was created in collaboration with artist Ryan Coales. While the devs cite games like Her Story and The Roottrees are Dead as inspirations, which is quite evident, you’ll also find a lot of D&D-inspired mechanics in its fantasy setting.

What’s the MacGuffin?

It’s the Orb of Artemagus. Six members return from a quest after being sent to retrieve the magical artefact. By the time they’re back, the artifact has mysteriously disappeared from their custody. Suddenly, everyone looks suspicious because every single member has a reason they could’ve stolen it.

You play as Truthsinger Ak’ordia, who’s part of a specialised order of investigators. He develops a feel for conversations and gradually learns when people aren’t being completely honest. You’ll spend your time interviewing and interrogating all six members of the party.

You collect statements in your casebook and compare what everyone says to find contradictions. Every time you successfully catch someone in a lie, you learn more about them, build rapport, and become better at recognising different kinds of deception.

There’s also a time management system in Edicts of the Truthsinger: The Orb of Artemagus. You only have seven days to solve the mystery, and every single question you ask costs time. There’s also a relaxed mode that lets you take your time to see every piece of dialogue.

Once your seven-day investigation is over, you present the evidence you’ve gathered and decide who you think stole the artifact. You actually try to persuade everyone that your conclusion is correct. Your persuasive skills are apparently good enough to send the wrong person to prison if your reasoning is flawed.
