Echo Weaver Is an Upcoming Knowledge-Based Metroidvania Where Secrets Are Your Upgrades

It’s an upcoming Metroidvania with a time loop narrative. Called Echo Weaver, it’s from developer Moonlight Kids and publisher Akupara Games. The teams just announced its launch date, which is October 8th, 2026, with a new trailer.

The game is launching for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Steam. Since it’s a knowledge-based Metroidvania, the devs call it a metroidBRAINia. In the game, your actual progression comes from learning. Time is your only real currency, and secrets are your upgrades.

Who is an Echo Weaver?

You play as the last of the Weavers, the remnants of a ruined society trapped inside a glitching time loop. The world you’re exploring is called Provenance. It’s all that’s left after the Congregation found something that completely reduced their utopian dream to ash and cinders.

The Congregation is a group that originally set out among the stars searching for paradise. Your job is to explore what’s left, uncover a conspiracy hiding beneath everything, and piece together the one perfect loop that finally leads to freedom.

The loop in Echo Weaver is a consumable resource. So, you’ll collect pickups to extend your remaining time, then spend that time to heal yourself, unlock gates, trade with characters, open new routes, and more.

Every reset is another attempt where you’re smarter than before. Every secret you uncover makes you stronger because your understanding of the world does. And breaking the loop in Echo Weaver isn’t about grinding upgrades but becoming an expert at moving through the world.

The people trapped inside Provenance are scrappy survivors trying to keep going while opposing those who want to bury any hope for a better future. Along the way, you’ll meet many interesting characters as well.
