Through its EA Partners initiative Electronic Arts has teamed up with a number of indepdent developers to release some highly successful console and PC games. And now the company is hoping to do the same thing for mobile and social games.

Essentially, EA will be publishing games developed by smaller studios, offering up both funding and expertise. As far as the expertise goes, EA will be getting some good use out of two recent acquistion. Chillingo, which was purchased by EA last year for $20 million, will be heading up the mobile portion of the program, while Playfish, which EA bought in 2009 for $300 million, will handle the social side.

“The EA Partners program has proven to be a phenomenally successful model,” Bryan Neider, general manager of the Partners program, said in a statement. “It is an all around win-win situation. The program allows EA to partner with some of the world’s best console, PC, and digital developers while providing those independent developers with a global distribution/publishing partner.

“We’re excited to be able to offer current and future partners the mobile and social expertise of Chillingo and Playfish respectively. Like EA Partners, Chillingo and Playfish work with the best development talent in the mobile and social gaming space.”
